Debussy's most well known work, Clair de Lune from Suite Bergamesque (1879, public domain), is the centerpiece for this production. The familiarity of this piece is the show's magic ingredient, maintaining the essence of what makes this music one of the most timeless piano works of all time while giving a clever and intriguing treatment to the source material. We made sure to create wind-friendly arrangements that translate idiomatically to woodwinds and brass in conjunction with the contemporary use of electronics and percussion.
This show was originally commissioned for the fall of 2018 and was released for the 2019 season.
