     "When the Forest Calls" is the allure of a place hidden from the human world, neither evil or good in the beginning, just mysterious and ethereal. This ambiguous world is presented to start as the band, guard and set present a kind of enclosed forest entrance or mass of “trees” that could be represented in a variety of ways. The show focuses on a single guard members progression of curiosity into this new land and takes us all the way to the transformation of seemingly becoming one of them, just to find out the forest has turned against them in an epic plot twist!

     This show features a mystical-forest film score/trailer sound which is a treasure trove of fantastic sounds and colors to create with the ensemble! Celeste, children's choir swells, harp glissandi, the sounds of nature/insects/animals and tinkling mystery all work seamlessly in this fantasy world with plenty of opportunity for mic'd wind soloists as well.

     This show was originally commissioned for the fall of 2021 and was released for the 2022 season.
