Metallix is a high-energy, GE focused production that explores all the various ways you could use metal both musically and visually. Rhythmic drive and tasty grooves are a regular throughline in the show. In contrast or in conjunction with those, powerful brass figures and shimmery woodwind textures can take us out of the percussion textures and into the more reflective and polished metals visual aesthetic that could be represented by guard flags or part of the uniform that's highly reflective. The exciting part about this open concept is it could be scalable to any size ensemble, with options to go as big or minimal as you want with props and extra metal sounds.
This show features Mahlers Symphony 2 which is in the public domain and features a Flute solo in mvt 1 and a Low Brass chamber choir in mvt 2.
Metallix was originally commissioned for the fall of 2025 and was released for the 2026 season
