Description:

Inspired by the concept of our indoor production, Drawn to the Flame, this new commission will bring an entirely new soundtrack and show progression that is perfectly suited for the competitive Marching Band arena. Sound design meets orchestral inspiration combined with a built-in visual identity will make this a home run for your ensemble!

This universal and complex human experience of being attracted to something that may be harmful yet irresistible. This highlights the paradoxical nature of human desires and sets the stage for a wide variety of interpretation options for your ensemble's visual program. Moth wings and flames could be represented through costuming and flags, while a large lantern like prop could serve as the flame.

This show is based off of Stravinksy's Firebird which is in the public domain and features a Trumpet solo in mvt 1, a Flute/Clarinet duet and a Flute/Muted trumpet in mvt 2 and a Flute solo in mvt 3.

"Like a Moth to a Flame" was originally commissioned for the fall of 2025 and was released for the 2026 season.
