Description:

     "The Constant State of Going Nowhere" is a production that conjurs the essence of a bustling metropolitan city through a modern lens. The compostion's unique musical language combines the influences of Steve Reich, Robert Glasper, Leonard Bernstein, and Alan SIlvestri in a contemporary package that will make your ensemble stand out from the crowd. Constantly evolving textures across the full ensemble combined with a persistent, and groove-influenced drive will inspire your visual design team!

     The music book is on the higher end of the demand spectrum while still staying in comfortable ranges and idiomatic fingering combinations. This is the perfect challenge for the ensemble ready to make the leap up to more challenging material. 

     Soloists and featured small ensembles include: Flute Quartet, Trumpet Soloist and a mixed ensemble quartet of Bari Sax, Bass Clarinet, Trombone and Alto Flute. The latter being one of our favorite unexpected combinations we've done in a long time! The alto flute can be substituted with a flute or clarinet with minor alterations to the original part.

     This show was originally commissioned for Chino Hills HS for the fall of 2023 and was released for the 2024 season.
