“Without war there cannot be peace, without love there cannot be hate.” Opposites is inspired from the idea of the Yin and Yang, without one there cannot be the other. This show offers a musical and conceptual exploration of opposing elements that has variety built right in, offering both musical depth and pure entertainment value!
The presentation of each opposing element in the voice overs followed by the musical exploration of the concept provide a guide for visual design. Simple, but effective opposites like 'left and right' and 'light and dark' can be translated into the drill, floor, and props.
This show was originally commissioned for marching band in the fall of 2011 and was released for the 2013 indoor season as a custom version adapted for indoor percussion.
